The importance of walking with God

Acts 4:13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.

Every morning we arise from our slumber, clear the sleep from our eyes and begin the repetitive practice of starting over with a new day and new opportunities. We should not begin the day by rehearsing the failures of our yesterdays. Those opportunities may or may not be waiting for us today. But there will be new ones each day. The best way to start the day is a quiet time with God. Begin with reading a passage of scripture or good devotional book. Next, we need to thank Him for our eternal salvation and the great privilege we have to serve the God who created the universe in which we live. The next step would be to ask Him for the wisdom to make the right choices that day. You know, the ones that glorify Him and not us. The answers are not going to be found on the billboards we pass or the street signs we find at each corner. They will come from the promptings of the Holy Spirit who abides within us.  His promptings and directions sometimes are like a still small voice that will be missed if we are not waiting for them to be given.

If we learn to practice these simple truths bedtime will come with a clean heart and a clear conscience.   That in turn will lead us to great anticipation when we arise from our slumber, clear the sleep from our eyes and begin the repetitive practice of starting over with a new day and new opportunities. If this is our practice then people will know we have been with Jesus!
