Daylight Savings Time
That twice a year we set our clocks forward or backward by one hour. This is a love/hate event for many people. It does not make a difference what we do; there is still a set amount of light and darkness every day of every year. It seems like mankind always wants to improve on what our Creator has done. It is not just our clocks that we change. Today we want personal convenience. We want our lives to be easy and controlled by us.
The same applies to our spiritual life. We want an easy religion. We want to worship at a convenient time that fits our schedule. Many want a message that makes us feel good without changing our lives. Years ago I preached a message entitled, “The Modern Smooth Cross, a replacement for the Old Rugged Cross”.
The question we should be asking is not what I want but what does God expect of me. The answer is simple; we must let God control our lives. If left to ourselves we may be happy for a while but there are consequences for living outside the will of God for our lives. The answers will be found in the Word of God. We need to make it a part of our everyday life, not just our Sunday worship.
Psalm 119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
